Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Sultani, the President of Al-Zahraa University for Women, accompanied by Prof. Dr. Ghaida' Abd Al-Hussein Al-Mulla, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, and Lect. Dr. Mostafa Al-Khafaji, the Director of the Electronic Computing Centre, participated in the launch ceremony of the Iraqi Programmers Syndicate in Holy Karbala Governorate. The event was attended by a distinguished group of academics, programmers, and professionals interested in the technology sector. Additionally, the said event was held under the auspices of Dr. Naseef Jassim Al-Khattabi, the Governor of Holy Karbala, and under the slogan “Digital Karbala: Programmers’ Vision Towards a Smart Environment.”

The ceremony featured a number of visions and ideas aimed at building an advanced digital society and highlighting the role of programming and modern technologies in supporting institutions and developing services. It also emphasised the importance of nurturing young talents and providing supportive environments for technological creativity and innovation, thereby contributing to the development of a knowledge-based ecosystem capable of keeping pace with rapidly evolving changes.

In his address, Dr. Al-Khattabi emphasised the importance of nurturing young talents in the fields of programming and technology. He noted that digital transformation represents a strategic step towards developing institutions and services and establishing a smart environment capable of keeping pace with contemporary developments. He further stressed the need to strengthen cooperation between governmental and academic institutions in contributing to the development of an advanced digital future.

For his part, Prof. Atheer Hamid Al-Qaisi, the Head of the Iraqi Programmers Syndicate, delivered an address highlighting the importance of establishing a syndicate dedicated to addressing the affairs of programmers and supporting technological talents. He stressed the need to enhance digital awareness and broaden professional opportunities for specialised competencies, thereby contributing to the development of Iraq’s digital transformation environment.

Prof. Dr. Al-Sultani also highlighted the importance of supporting technological and digital initiatives, noting the University’s commitment to strengthening its presence in the fields of modern technology and encouraging students to pursue pathways in programming and innovation. Furthermore, the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at Al-Zahraa University for Women represents an optimal destination for emerging technological disciplines, providing an integrated educational environment capable of producing graduates equipped with the skills required by the rapidly evolving technology labour market worldwide, thereby enhancing the University’s ability to keep pace with the requirements of digital transformation.

It is significant to point out that the participation of the University formed part of its commitment to supporting scientific and technological initiatives and strengthening its active presence in events concerned with technology and digital transformation.
