From Fundamentals to Digital Exploration: Launch of the Cybersecurity 101 Training Course to Enhance Cybersecurity Skills
The College of Engineering has launched the Cybersecurity 101 training course, a five-day program held under the supervision and guidance of the Dean of the College of Engineering and Information Technology, Prof. Dr. Ghaida Al-Mulla. The course aims to develop the cybersecurity skills of female students and interested participants while enhancing their knowledge of the latest concepts and tools used to protect systems and networks.
On the first day, the course—delivered by Engineer Sajjad Diaa Hikmat (Computer Engineer)—featured an introductory lecture covering the fundamentals of cybersecurity and its vital role in addressing the growing challenges and threats in the digital world. The session also introduced the core concepts of information security and the protection of digital infrastructure.
The program also included a hands-on practical session on Nmap, one of the most widely used tools for network scanning and device and service discovery. Participants learned how to use the tool effectively and explored its key practical applications in cybersecurity environments.
This training course is part of the College's ongoing efforts to strengthen the technical competencies of its students and prepare them to meet the demands of the modern technology job market, particularly in the rapidly expanding field of cybersecurity.
