As part of its commitment to promoting scientific research and encouraging applied studies that address priority health issues, the College of Pharmacy at Al-Zahraa University for Women has achieved a new academic milestone with the publication of a graduation research project entitled:

 

Assessment of Iron Deficiency Anemia Prevalence and Related KAP

 

The study was published in the AL-KUFA JOURNAL FOR BIOLOGY, a peer-reviewed scientific journal officially registered and indexed in the Iraqi Academic Scientific Journals (IASJ) portal under the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

 

The research was supervised by Specialist Pharmacist Amir Mahdi Al-Khafaji and conducted by the College of Pharmacy students:

- Adhraa Majeed Mousa

- Shahad Raad Ali

- Fatima Mohammed Latif

 

This achievement reflects the strong collaboration between the College of Pharmacy and Al-Zahraa Center for Medical and Pharmaceutical Research in supporting students' graduation projects and transforming them into high-quality scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals. It also demonstrates the University's commitment to fostering a culture of scientific research and aligning academic outcomes with community needs.

 

The study involved 365 students who completed an electronic questionnaire assessing their Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices (KAP) regarding nutrition and health. In addition, laboratory investigations were conducted on 100 students at Al-Zahraa Center for Medical and Pharmaceutical Research. The findings revealed that the prevalence of iron deficiency anemia reached 34%, while unhealthy dietary practices increased the risk of developing anemia by nearly threefold.

 

This publication highlights the vital role of Al-Zahraa University for Women, the College of Pharmacy, and Al-Zahraa Center for Medical and Pharmaceutical Research in supporting high-quality scientific research and transforming students' graduation projects into internationally recognized academic publications.
