The College of Pharmacy at Al-Zahraa University for Women continues its intensive training program for fifth-year students at the specialized medical laboratories of Sayyida Khadija (peace be upon her) Hospital. The program is supervised by a joint training team from the College and the Hospital and aims to enhance students’ practical skills by integrating academic knowledge with modern laboratory applications.
The practical training introduces students to the operation of several advanced laboratory systems, including the Alinity c, which is used for clinical chemistry testing. The system performs a range of tests, including the measurement of liver enzymes such as ALT and AST, as well as triglycerides, cholesterol, uric acid, and other biochemical parameters used in laboratory diagnostics.
Students also receive hands-on training on the Alinity i, an immunoassay system used to measure various hormones, including thyroid and steroid hormones, as well as vitamin D levels. In addition, they are introduced to the advanced Alinity ci system, which integrates clinical chemistry and immunoassay testing within a single platform.
The program focuses on providing students with practical knowledge of operating these advanced systems, conducting laboratory tests, and accurately reading and interpreting test results. This contributes to strengthening their scientific and professional competencies and preparing them for future work in clinical and laboratory settings.
This training reflects the commitment of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain to providing state-of-the-art medical equipment and technologies from leading international manufacturers, contributing to the advancement of healthcare services for patients while providing university students with an advanced and high-quality practical training environment.
