The College of Engineering and Information Technology, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Centre, held a workshop titled 'Stages of Preserving Architectural Heritage', presented by Dr Haider Naji, a lecturer in the Department of Architecture. It targeted third-year female students, along with professors and those interested in architectural heritage.
The workshop covered the concept of architectural heritage and its importance in strengthening identity, architectural and urban documentation of buildings and heritage sites, diagnosing problems and signs of deterioration in heritage buildings, as well as stages and options for preservation and restoration, and principles for preserving architectural identity, alongside showcasing practical examples and experiences from local heritage.
The workshop aimed to build scientific and professional awareness of the importance of preserving architectural heritage as an integral part of the memory of a place and the identity of the community, to enhance the knowledge of female architecture students and interested parties, and to open up opportunities for learning, dialogue, and exchanging experiences; contributing to safeguarding cultural heritage and passing it on to future generations.
