The College of Engineering and Information Technology, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Centre, organised a workshop titled 'The Human Scale in Architectural Design', presented by Assistant Lecturer Fatima Mohammed Hasan from the Department of Architecture, targeting second-year female students. The workshop focused on the concept of the human scale and its importance in determining the dimensions and proportions of architectural spaces, its relation to visual perception, comfort, and spatial harmony, while reviewing anthropometric dimensions and their role in setting the size of architectural elements, furniture, and movement areas. The workshop also included architectural examples and visual applications showing how human body size and space dimensions affect user perception, aiming to enhance students' skills in using the human scale to design architectural spaces that balance functional, aesthetic, and visual comfort requirements.
