The Department of Radiologic Techniques at Al-Zahraa University for Women organised a scientific seminar entitled “Early Detection of Breast Cancer and How to Perform Self-Examination.” The seminar was presented by Dr. Khadija Al-Waeli, Head of the Department of Radiology and Ultrasound at Zain Al-Abidin Hospital in Karbala, on Tuesday, 24 January 2023, at 1:00 p.m., in Umm Abiha Hall.

Additionally, Dr. Al-Waeli explained the importance of raising awareness about breast cancer, methods of prevention and control, and the necessity of maintaining a healthy diet, exercising regularly, and avoiding smoking. She also highlighted the significant role of psychological factors in the spread of the disease, noting that “fear is the companion of cancer.” Furthermore, she presented an instructional video demonstrating the proper steps for breast self-examination at home, a procedure that every woman should learn and practise monthly.

The session concluded with a round of questions and discussions from attendees. At the end of the event, Lect. Dr. Sadiq Al-Murashidi, Head of the Department of Radiologic Techniques at the University, presented a certificate of appreciation to Dr. Al-Waeli in recognition of her valuable Seminar.
