The Department of English Language, Faculty of Education, at Al-Zahraa University for Women, in cooperation with the Department of Continuing Education, organised a scientific workshop entitled “Ekphrastic Literature”.
The workshop was delivered by Asst. Lect. Mostafa Abbas Sahan on Wednesday, 26 April 2023, in the Department’s hall.
The said workshop featured a selection of renowned works of art that have inspired literary creations. Additionally, several poems were presented as examples of ekphrastic literature, including a poem inspired by the Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh’s The Starry Night, in which the poet transformed the painting into a literary work through original imagery, similes, and expressive language that conveyed new and distinctive emotions.
