The Governor of the Holy Governate of Karbala, Eng. Naseef Jassim Al-Khattabi, revealed that Karbala Governorate intends to sponsor preparations for a joint women’s conference specialising in issues related to academic women, women’s studies, women’s empowerment, and the development of their capabilities. 
The meeting was attended by a number of Iraqi female academics as part of an official delegation that included the leadership of Al-Zahraa University for Women and Northern Technical University, alongside members of the councils of both Universities.

Al-Khattabi stated that the city takes pride in hosting Iraq’s first and only women’s University and values the presence of this institution dedicated to Muslim women. He further noted that this places a responsibility upon the local administration to organise a number of scientific and academic activities that invest in and support this distinguished academic institution.

For her part, Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Mulla Al-Sultani, President of Al-Zahraa University for Women, expressed her appreciation and gratitude for the support and assistance provided by official bodies, including the local government administration, throughout the University’s academic journey.

The visit took place on the sidelines of a tour conducted by a delegation from Northern Technical University, headed by Prof. Dr. Alia' Al-Attar, President of Northern Technical University, to the city of Karbala. The said visit formed part of an academic initiative involving several Universities from different Governorates. Al-Zahraa University for Women adopted and supported this initiative as part of its efforts to advance and strengthen women’s academic engagement in Iraq.
