Under the auspices of His Eminence Al-Sheikh Abd Al-Mahdi Al-Karbalaei, the Legimiate Overseer of the Affairs of Imam Hussein Holy Shrine, and under the slogan “The Qur'an Unites Us”, the opening ceremony of the First International Qur'anic Competition for Holy Shrines and Sacred Sites in Qur'an recitation and memorisation was held.

Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Sultani, President of ZUW, participated in the opening ceremony, which was attended by a slew of religious and academic figures at Imam Hussein Holy Shrine.

The opening ceremony included addresses delivered by Prof. Al-Hajj Hassan Rashid Al-Abayechi, the Secretary-General of Imam Hussein Holy Shrine, Mr. Mohammed Ali Bahr Al-Uloom, and Al-Sheikh Khair Al-Din Ali Al-Hadi, the Head of the Dar Al-Qur'an Department.

It is noteworthy that the International Qur'anic Competition is the first initiative of its kind dedicated to bringing together distinguished Qur'an reciters and memorisers from both within Iraq and abroad, providing a platform that celebrates and promotes excellence in the recitation and memorisation of the Holy Qur'an.
