The Central Library at Al-Zahraa University for Women earned one of the Iraqi Knowledge Reward that rewarded by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, after being ranked within the best Universities libraries in Iraq across public and private Universities and Faculties.
This recognition came as an appreciated for the University’s efforts in developing its information infrastructure and adopting the latest global systems in libraries management, the library considers one of the academic institutions that have kept pace with modern technological developments in cataloging and classification by using the international system (Koha), this system one the most important internationally recognized systems to organize knowledge resources and managing it digitally, the Central Library provides female students, researchers, and its academic staff an extensive variety of thousands of print and electronic resources, along with interactive digital services that easier to reach to modern references and scientific journals that contributes in supporting scientific research and developing the university education environment.
Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Mullah Al-Sultani the President of Al-Zahraa University emphasized this achievement represents a recognition of a journey of institutional work in developing academic and library services, highlighted that the library become an advanced knowledge Centre contributes in rise the quality of education and scientific research in both within and beyond the University, this enhances its presence and provides advanced services that align with global libraries standards, in a way that fulfills the university’s goals of elevating the level, the quality of education and academic knowledge.
Hanan Farouq Al-Sadi the director of the Central Library expressed her pride of this achievement, emphasized this reward reflects the ongoing efforts of its staff to align with global standers, enhancing the presence of the library within Iraqi Higher Education System, through the digital transformation projects, as well as, updating the technical infrastructure, and developing the services that provides for female students and researchers both within and beyond the University.
The Iraqi Knowledge Day Reward is considered one of the most important academic rewards that rewarded by the Ministry of the Higher Education annually, to honor the institutions, the distinguished individuals in the scientific research fields, the academic publishing, and develops the university’s services within a national vision aims to uphold a cultural of excellence and the quality of Iraqi higher education.
