“The Open Day” – the first interactive event for sixth preparatory students and their families at the College of Engineering
Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Zainab Al-Sultani, President of Al-Zahraa University for Women, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Ghaidaa Al-Mulla, Dean of the College of Engineering and Information Technology, the College organized the “Open Day” event, with the participation of department heads and a number of faculty members. The event welcomed a large number of sixth preparatory students and their families in a step considered the first of its kind.
The event was attended by Professor Dr. Zuhair Mohammed Jidou, Assistant to the University President for Scientific Affairs, along with department heads, faculty members, and administrative staff from various colleges.
The Open Day included direct meetings with the Dean and department heads, as well as tours of laboratories and classrooms to explore the College’s infrastructure and academic programs. It also featured an interactive discussion space between visiting students and current students to discuss each specialization, future opportunities, and to answer parents’ inquiries.
Informational booths were set up for each department, including the newly established Digital Design Engineering Department. The Head of the Department, Assistant Lecturer Abdullah Al-Obaidi, was present along with specialist Sarmad Al-Husseini.
The event also included an exhibition showcasing student projects from various departments, where student representatives provided direct explanations about their departments and available programs, in addition to presenting projects to visitors through laptops and both printed and digital models.
In her speech, the Dean, Professor Dr. Ghaidaa Al-Mulla, emphasized that the “Open Day” aims to strengthen community engagement and open doors of knowledge for students, helping them choose the most suitable specialization with confidence and awareness. She also highlighted the importance of direct exposure to laboratories and practical activities in enhancing the academic experience.
