Start your research smartly: a scientific workshop in Artificial Intelligence Engineering to enhance scientific reference management skills
Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Zainab Al-Sultani, President of Al-Zahraa University for Women, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Ghaidaa Al-Mulla, Dean of the College of Engineering and Information Technology, and in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center, the Department of Artificial Intelligence Engineering organized a specialized scientific workshop entitled: “Start Your Research Smartly: Learn to Use Mendeley for Reference Management.” The workshop was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Zahraa Shihab Ahmed, the department’s rapporteur, as part of supporting the academic and research journey of the college’s students.
The workshop introduced Mendeley as one of the leading tools for managing scientific sources and documenting references in academic research. The lecturer reviewed methods for organizing and storing references, inserting citations within texts, and automatically generating reference lists according to international citation styles, contributing to improving the quality of scientific research and reducing methodological errors in source documentation.
The workshop also included a practical explanation of the program’s key features, such as PDF file management, automatic reference importing, and the ability to collaborate among researchers, in addition to integrating the software with Microsoft Word to facilitate citation during writing. The workshop emphasized the importance of adopting modern digital tools in scientific research in line with the requirements of reputable academic publishing and global university standards.
The workshop was attended by the Head of the Artificial Intelligence Department, Associate Professor Dr. Hiba Jabbar Al-Aqabi, along with faculty members and students from various academic stages.
