Under the Patronage of the Holy Hussaini Shrine: Official Inauguration of the College of Engineering and Information Technology
Under the patronage of the General Secretariat of the Holy Hussaini Shrine and the supervision of the President of Al-Zahra University for Girls, Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Sultani, the College of Engineering and Information Technology was inaugurated in a landmark academic achievement reflecting the university’s commitment to establishing modern engineering education.
The inauguration ceremony took place within the framework of the 18th International Spring of Martyrdom Festival, attended by a wide range of official and academic figures, including the Governor of Karbala, Mr. Naseef Jassim Al-Khatabi, the Chairman of the Provincial Council, Mr. Qasim Al-Yasari, and a delegation from the General Secretariat of the Holy Hussaini Shrine, alongside a gathering of media, cultural, and social representatives, academic personalities, and international delegations participating in the festival.
The ceremony began with a speech by His Eminence, the Religious Custodian of the Holy Hussaini Shrine, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbala’i (May He Remain Honored), who emphasized the importance of university education as a cornerstone for building individuals and society, highlighting the pivotal role of specialized academic institutions in educating women, fostering awareness, and instilling values.
In his speech, the Governor of Karbala expressed pride in the opening of a specialized engineering college within Al-Zahra University, noting that this project constitutes a strategic addition to the educational infrastructure of the province and reflects the continuous support of the higher religious authority in developing the education sector.
The Chairman of the Provincial Council also praised the vision of the Holy Hussaini Shrine, which successfully integrates religious authenticity with contemporary educational requirements, emphasizing that the college’s inauguration represents a qualitative leap in the field of women’s higher education.
The University President highlighted that the college was established according to the latest engineering and educational standards, providing a comprehensive academic environment that prepares female engineers with scientific knowledge, innovative capacity, and the ability to keep pace with rapid technological development while serving society with a solid scientific mindset that preserves identity and values.
The inauguration ceremony included a guided tour of the college’s halls, during which attendees were introduced to the academic departments, smart classrooms, specialized laboratories, and architectural features of the building. The tour also featured technological demonstrations presented by students from various departments, showcasing their advanced academic level and technical skills in fields such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, communications and mobile computing, digital design, and architecture.
