The College Portal: An Open Space for Creativity – Architecture Students Document Architecture Through Freehand Drawing
As part of the practical curriculum of the Architecture Department, first-year students conducted a freehand drawing lesson today outside the classroom. This educational experience aimed to break away from the traditional lecture format and provide direct engagement with the surrounding architectural space.
During the lesson, the students drew the college portal as an architectural element rich in aesthetic and structural values. This activity allowed them to gain hands-on practice in understanding proportions, perspective, and architectural details through direct observation, translating the real-life scene into lines that express concept and identity.
This initiative reflects the department’s commitment to reinforcing manual drawing skills as a fundamental tool in architectural education. It plays a pivotal role in developing creative sensitivity, enhancing the students’ connection with space, and preparing them for an academic journey grounded in deep understanding and conscious architectural expression.
