Under the patronage of the President of Al-Zahraa University for Women, Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Sultani, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Engineering and Information Technology, Prof. Dr. Ghaidaa Al-Mulla, and in collaboration with the Continuing Education Center, the College organized a specialized scientific workshop delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Athir Nazim Hussein and Lecturer Dr. Harith Fadil Hussein, with the participation of a group of faculty members and students. The workshop highlighted the profound transformations brought about by artificial intelligence in the digital domain.
The first axis of the workshop addressed the defensive role of artificial intelligence as a “protective shield,” emphasizing its ability to predict cyber threats, automatically detect anomalous activities, and enhance identity and access management systems, thereby improving overall cybersecurity efficiency. In contrast, the second axis explored the dual nature of this technology, illustrating how it can also be exploited to expand the scope of cyberattacks, in addition to challenges related to algorithmic bias and the risks associated with autonomous systems.
The workshop concluded with a balanced perspective that integrated deep technical analysis with ethical and legislative dimensions, stressing the importance of achieving equilibrium between innovation and security. It also emphasized the need to prepare qualified professionals capable of addressing artificial intelligence challenges with awareness and responsibility, thereby enhancing students’ readiness for the demands of the digital age.
