Under the patronage of the President of Al-Zahraa University for Women, Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Sultani, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education, Prof. Dr. Eman Samir Bahia, an awareness and guidance workshop for first-year students in the Department of Arabic Language was held under the title, “Because Your Life is Precious... The Art of Stress Management.”
The workshop was presented by Dr. Nasreen Ali Al-Jilawi with the aim of raising awareness about the dangers of suicide and highlighting the major psychological motives and causes associated with it, including anxiety, depression, and psychological stress. The workshop also addressed the social and cultural factors experienced by some individuals in pressure-filled environments, which may negatively affect their mental and psychological well-being and make them more vulnerable to suicidal thoughts as a means of escaping such pressures.
The session shed light on how to recognize the warning signs of suicide and discussed methods of prevention. It also introduced the psychological support services available to students within the university and clarified the role of the educational psychological counselor in helping students manage psychological and social pressures and work together toward possible solutions.
The workshop witnessed notable interaction from the students through discussions, dialogue, and active participation, contributing to raising awareness of the importance of mental health and the need to seek support when necessary.
