Scientific Research by a Faculty Member at the College of Pharmacy Achieves Advanced Results in Accelerating Treatment and Reducing Costs
Nafiseh Qurban Ali Bagherian, a faculty member at the College of Pharmacy, Al-Zahraa University for Women, has achieved a significant research milestone in the field of drug design. Her study was published in the International Journal of Drug Delivery Technology, a journal indexed within the Third Quartile (Q3), focusing on the development of improved pharmaceutical compounds targeting the COX-2 enzyme associated with inflammation.
The study utilized Computer-Aided Drug Design (CADD) techniques, a modern approach used to accelerate drug discovery and reduce costs by simulating molecular interactions before proceeding to laboratory trials. The research focused on enhancing the properties of Etoricoxib, a prominent COX-2 inhibitor, by constructing a combinatorial library of (60) compounds based on published scientific data.
