Scientific Workshop Explores Modern Methods to Save Time and Effort in Drug Discovery

The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the College of Pharmacy organized a scientific workshop titled "Modern Trends in Drug Discovery: From Target Identification to Lead Compound." The workshop was presented by Dr. Mohammed Hamza Harz, as part of the ongoing academic efforts to keep pace with global advancements in drug design and discovery.

The workshop highlighted the latest scientific methodologies adopted in identifying pharmacological targets, followed by the stages of designing and developing active compounds, and finally selecting the lead compound for therapeutic use. Special emphasis was placed on the integration between computational techniques and modern laboratory experiments. Additionally, the session reviewed applied models reflecting the rapid evolution in the global pharmaceutical industry and the role of scientific research in accelerating access to more effective and safer treatments.

This workshop is part of a series of scientific activities conducted by the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, aimed at enhancing the research skills of students and expanding their horizons in the fields of modern drug discovery.
