In an academic environment that combines knowledge and awareness, the Department of Clinical Nutrition at the College of Health and Medical Technologies at Al-Zahraa University for Women organized a specialized workshop titled “When the Body Speaks: Hair Loss as a Visible Sign of Internal Health Issues,” delivered by Teaching Assistant Ruqayya Osama Nouri.

The workshop emphasized that the body communicates through subtle signals that require careful understanding, presenting hair loss as a reflection of various internal disorders that demand accurate diagnosis and deeper medical awareness. The lecturer explained that this condition is rarely linked to a single cause; rather, it may result from multiple factors such as genetics, nutritional deficiencies including iron and vitamins, hormonal disorders such as thyroid diseases, as well as stress and autoimmune conditions.

The session also highlighted the importance of adopting an integrated diagnostic approach that combines clinical examination with laboratory testing in order to reach the most effective treatment. It stressed that awareness of these warning signs plays a significant role in prevention and early detection.

This workshop comes as part of the College’s continuous efforts to strengthen health awareness and develop students’ scientific understanding, enabling them to recognize the hidden messages of the body and transform them into keys for prevention and treatment.
