Under the auspices of the President of Al-Zahra University (PBUH) for Women, Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Sultani, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Engineering and Information Technology, Prof. Dr. Ghaida Al-Mallah, the college has launched the KNX and Solar Energy course as part of its summer training program. This strategic initiative aims to equip female students and graduates with advanced technical skills that meet labor market demands by bridging the gap between academic education and modern practical applications. The four-month intensive course integrates both theoretical knowledge and practical training. It covers specialized modules, including the fundamentals of KNX systems and smart buildings, programming using ETS software, and control mechanisms for lighting, HVAC, blinds, and building management systems (BMS). Additionally, the curriculum addresses the core concepts of solar photovoltaic (Solar PV) systems, designing and executing solar installations, component selection, and integrating them into smart buildings to optimize energy consumption. Participants will also execute hands-on projects and practical applications that simulate real-world professional environments. The course is delivered by Eng. Ahmed Al-Hariri, the CEO of Al-Nokhba Engineering Company. He is a certified trainer in KNX systems and solar energy, the founder of the first certified KNX training center in Iraq, and the recipient of the KNX Smart Home Award Asia 2024. His expertise significantly enhances the academic value of the program, offering participants a unique opportunity to gain professional insights aligned with the latest international standards. This aligns with the university’s broader vision of fostering engineering talents capable of driving digital transformation and sustainable energy technologies.
