The Architecture Department at the College of Engineering organizes an expanded seminar on the master plans for the future development of Karbala
Professor Dr. Abdul Sahib Al-Baghdadi, a faculty member in the Architecture Department at the College of Engineering and Information Technology, led an expanded panel discussion entitled: “The Planning Project: Master Plans for the City of Karbala… An Analytical Study and Future Vision.” The seminar was organized by the Karbala Center for Studies and Research at the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine, with the participation of a distinguished group of experts and specialists in urban planning.
The seminar was attended by the Dean of the College of Engineering, Professor Dr. Ghaidaa Al-Mulla, along with the rapporteur of the Architecture Department, Assistant Lecturer Maisoon Safi Yasser, and faculty members Assistant Lecturer Riyadh Kazem Roudhan and Assistant Lecturer Sara Hassan Hadi.
The speakers discussed a major planning project consisting of 1,500 pages, including more than 250 analytical and planning maps covering agricultural, industrial, and commercial sectors. The project also examined Karbala’s regional impact as a prominent religious and population center that receives millions of visitors annually.
The seminar concluded with contributions from attendees, who discussed the project’s details and its importance in shaping the urban and demographic future of Karbala. They emphasized the vital role of the College of Engineering and the Architecture Department in providing strategic solutions and future urban planning for the city.
