Prof. Dr. Hamid Ibrahim Abood Altamimi, Head of the Department of Radiological Techniques at the College of Health and Medical Technologies, Al-Zahraa University for Women, chaired the defense committee for a Master’s thesis presented by the postgraduate student Ghufran Sattar Khazal Flayyih in the Department of Physics, College of Education for Pure Sciences – University of Babylon, on Thursday, August 27, 2026.

The thesis was titled:

"Effect of toxic gases molecules adsorption on the electronic and optical properties of BrSbSe monolayer"

The research presented an advanced investigation into the field of gas sensors, representing leading and cutting-edge research in modern materials science and two-dimensional nanomaterials.

The examination committee comprised:

  • Prof. Dr. Hamid Ibrahim Abood (Al-Zahraa University for Women) – Chair

  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Najlaa Mohammed Hadi (University of Babylon / College of Education for Pure Sciences) – Member

  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Safaa Ahmed Jabbar (University of Babylon / College of Education for Pure Sciences) – Member

  • Prof. Dr. Shorooq Sabah Abdul-Abbas (University of Babylon / College of Education for Pure Sciences) – Member & Supervisor

Following an in-depth scientific discussion and a rigorous defense by the student, the committee unanimously approved the thesis, awarding the candidate a Master of Science degree in Physics with a grade of Excellence (Distinction).
