As part of strengthening scientific and academic collaboration and promoting the exchange of expertise among Iraqi universities, Associate Professor Dr. Hiba Jabbar Al-Aqabi, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs at the College of Engineering and Information Technology, chaired the Master’s thesis defense committee for a postgraduate student at the University of Kufa, College of Education, Department of Computer Science.

The thesis, entitled “Detection of Terrorist Communities in Social Networks Using Deep Learning,” focused on developing an intelligent framework for detecting communities within social networks by leveraging semantic text representation, semantic network construction, and advanced community detection algorithms. The proposed framework employed the Leiden, SLPA, and Recursive Leiden algorithms to identify primary communities, overlapping communities, and hidden sub-communities, thereby enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of analyzing complex structures and relationships within social networks.

The defense featured an in-depth scientific discussion and specialized deliberations on the research methodology, algorithms, findings, and scientific contributions. The session concluded with congratulations to the student and best wishes for continued success in her academic and research career.
