The practical training in the KNX Smart Building Systems programme at the College of Engineering and Information Technology strengthened engineering skills in preparing bill of quantities, through a hands-on exercise based on the plan of a 200-square-metre residential villa in a housing complex in Karbala. The exercise included analysing the architectural plan, determining the number of devices, control components, screens, lighting units and curtains, and calculating system requirements and components according to project needs, enabling participants to understand how to convert architectural plans into accurate bill of quantities in preparation for implementing smart control systems. In terms of collaboration, the programme included a discussion session between the college's media division and Elite Engineering Company, addressing the current partnership, future development plans, exploring new opportunities for practical training and expanding cooperation in smart building technologies, enhancing integration between academic knowledge and engineering practice.
