The General Secretariat of the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine / Health and Higher Authority has announced that it has obtained the approval of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to establish Al-Sibtain University for Medical Sciences.

The University is the first in Iraq to award an internationally recognised degree as the international branch of Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS), a well-established University ranked among the leading international institutions. Additionally, it is listed within the 200–300 category of the Shanghai Ranking, which is recognised by the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

The University has memoranda of understanding with a number of leading international institutions, including:

* Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh
* University of Sheffield
* St George’s University, in coordination with Mayo Clinic
* Lebanese University

The University operates under the supervision and administration of the Health and Higher Education Authority of the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine and comprises three Faculties:

* Faculty of Medicine
* Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery
* Faculty of Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy

Applications are accepted exclusively through the electronic application window available on the Private University Education Department portal (www.pe-gate.org).

Applications will remain open until the evening of Saturday, 10 December 2022.

Students currently enrolled for the academic year at private Universities and faculties may apply to Al-Sibtain University without the need to withdraw from their current admissions.

Applications will also be available to students who are not enrolled in other departments through the portal, in accordance with the admission requirements of each department.

Registration procedures will take place at Warith Al-Anbiyaa University, Baghdad Road, near Sayyid Al-Awsiya City for Visitors.
