The English Language Department at the Faculty of Education, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at Al-Zahraa University for Women, organised a panel discussion entitled “Contemporary Issues in Translation”. The said event was held at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, 18 December 2022, in Umm Abiha Hall at the University.
The University welcomed Prof. Dr. Kadhim Al-Ali, academic at the University of Basrah, and Prof. Dr. Ali Al-Manaa', academic at Khalifa Bin Hamad University, Qatar, as guest speakers.
During the discussion, twenty-five translation-related questions were addressed and answered by Prof. Dr. Al-Ali. Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Al-Manaa' explored the Complex Thinking Theory, highlighting its influence on the translation process and its impact on translators’ approaches and decision-making.
The session concluded with an open discussion, during which attendees and audience members raised questions and shared their perspectives. At the end of the event, Prof. Dr. Al-Ali donated a collection of his publications to the University Library and presented copies to members of the academic staff and female students in support of knowledge dissemination and academic enrichment.
This panel discussion formed part of the scientific activities organised by the Continuing Education Unit in cooperation with the English Language Department at the Faculty of Education, Al-Zahraa University for Women.
