A team responsible for safety and security procedures from the National Monitoring Authority of the Prime Minister’s Office, affiliated with the Iraqi National Security Service for Higher Education and Scientific Research, visited Al-Zahraa University for Women to conduct an inspection tour of the scientific laboratories located within the laboratories complex at the University’s main building.
The said visit formed part of the implementation of a programme aimed at evaluating biological safety and security measures in laboratories and facilities associated with biological activities, in accordance with the National Monitoring Authority Law on Non-Proliferation.
The inspection also contributes to fulfilling Iraq’s international obligations under the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention, while supporting the development of laboratory practices and raising awareness among laboratory personnel regarding risk management and biosafety procedures.
