Electronic Blackmail and Its Negative Effects Awareness Seminar by Al-Zahraa University for Women

Inam Mohammed Under the aegis and presence of Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Mulla Al-Sultani, President of Al-Zahraa University for women, Women's Empowerment Division organized an awareness seminar on "Electronic Verification and Analysis of Electronic Information”, on Wednesday 4/10/2023 at Um Abbiha Hall in Al-Zahraa University. The seminar was also held in cooperation with Technology and Informatics Department at Police Command of the Holy Province of Karbala. Moreover, lecturers of the said seminar were Colonel Ihsan Al-Asadi, the spokesperson for the Holy Karbala Governorate Police Command, Colonel Thaer Rahim Hassan, from the Department of Technology and Informatics in the command, Lieutenant Major Zulfiqar Bassem and Dr.Muhammad Abu Al-Maali, Director of Electronic Computer Center at the University. It is noteworthy that the seminar underscored a slew of such salient topics as electronic blackmail, major dangers of social media, privacy preservation to avoid blackmail, the need for secure personal accounts in mobile phone devices in addition to protection mechanisms for personal information in those devices. Furthermore, the seminar included questions and inquiries from the audience on information confidentiality particularly those provided to responsible authorities as well as effective solutions to avert the scourge of electronic blackmail. The seminar came out with several recommendations including the importance of increasing cognitive and cultural awareness among students to confront electronic blackmail and the need to tackle it via community and police cooperation and prerequisite legal protection. At the end of the above mentioned seminar, the lecturers were rewarded with letters of thanks and appreciation from the President of Al-Zahraa University for women in recognition of the efforts being made to reduce the spread of negative phenomena in society.
