The Department of Educational Guidance and Counselling at Al-Zahraa University for Women initiated a developmental workshop on emotional intelligence, which was attended by female students from the Faculty of Education, Department of English Language. The said workshop was held to highlight key topics of the emotional intelligence concept, as it is considered a fundamental factor behind success in both life and work.
Speaking to the official University website, Dr. Nisreen Ali Al-Jeelawi, Head of the Department of Educational Guidance and Counselling, stated: "Emotional intelligence is a distinct form of intelligence that is essential for success in life, career, and mental health. It is defined as the capacity to understand, control, regulate, and positively manage one's own emotions across various life situations."
She further added: "The workshop illustrated the traits of a personality possessing this type of intelligence, noting that such individuals are capable of leadership, effective communication, and understanding others. They exhibit balanced behaviour and emotions, assume responsibility, maintain self-control during conflicts or turbulent situations, and excel at problem-solving. Furthermore, they demonstrate a higher capacity for learning, reflection, and environmental adaptation." The workshop was characterised by an enthusiastic atmosphere and active participation from the female students.
