“Towards a Promising Engineering Future”… The College of Engineering Celebrates Its New Students in an Official Welcome Meeting

The College of Engineering and Information Technology at Al-Zahraa University for Women held its official welcoming ceremony for newly admitted students at Umm Abiha Hall, under the title “Towards a Promising Engineering Future,” with distinguished academic and administrative attendance.

The ceremony commenced with a recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an, followed by a moment of silence and the recitation of Al-Fatiha for the souls of the martyrs, as well as the national anthem. This was followed by a welcoming speech delivered by the College Media Division. The official program then included keynote speeches, beginning with the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Sultani, who emphasized the university presidency’s commitment to supporting and empowering students academically and humanely, and to providing a stimulating academic environment that fosters creativity and excellence, while highlighting the message of the Sharia Supervisor of the Holy Hussayni Shrine, His Eminence Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbala’i, on the importance of human development.

A documentary presentation was then shown, introducing the College of Engineering and Information Technology, highlighting its academic journey, departments, specializations, and the scientific and practical opportunities it provides. This was followed by a speech from the Dean of the College of Engineering and Information Technology, Prof. Dr. Ghaidaa Al-Mulla, who welcomed the new students and noted that the college is not only focused on producing specialized engineers, but also on shaping conscious and responsible leaders capable of keeping pace with scientific and technological advancement and serving society.

The event also included a student speech delivered by the top student, Rowen Adel, who welcomed her new colleagues and shared her academic experience. A live interactive segment followed, featuring an open dialogue with the heads of academic departments, who presented their departments and academic missions before opening the floor for questions from students, reflecting the college’s commitment to direct and transparent communication.

The ceremony concluded with a brief closing speech, followed by the announcement of the end of the event. A hospitality segment then took place, where department-themed cakes were cut with the participation of department heads and student representatives, along with souvenir photographs in a friendly atmosphere that reflected a sense of belonging and a bright academic beginning.

This event comes as part of the College of Engineering and Information Technology’s vision to strengthen communication with students from their very first day and to establish an academic identity that integrates knowledge, humanity, and technology.
