Al-Zahra University (peace be upon her) Crowns Its Digital Leadership: The First Iraqi University to Issue Official Documents with Advanced Electronic Signatures

Under the patronage of the General Secretariat of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein, supervised by Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Sultani, President of the University, and followed up by Prof. Dr. Ghidaa Al-Mulla, Dean of the College of Engineering and Information Technology, and in collaboration with the Continuing Education Center, the College of Engineering and Information Technology and the Department of Electronic Computing organized a scientific workshop titled “Electronic Signatures.” The workshop was held in partnership with the Karbala Communications and Informatics Directorate and Masdar Company, a specialist in electronic signature services.

The workshop was attended by a distinguished group of technical and administrative personnel and was presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Abbas Al-Sabbagh and Eng. Hussein Fadel Mohsen. It included a detailed presentation on institutional applications of electronic signatures, along with the technical and legal requirements for their adoption.

The workshop addressed global information security standards, including ISO 27001 and the Web of Trust system, highlighting ways to integrate this service into university operations. This integration enhances digital transformation, speeds up transaction processing, and increases the reliability of official documents. This project is the first of its kind in Iraq, based on Law No. 78 of 2012 and Instructions No. 1 of 2025 regarding electronic signature regulation and legal authentication, paving the way for Al-Zahra University (peace be upon her) to become the first Iraqi university to issue its official documents through this advanced digital service.
