The Department of English Language, Faculty of Education, Al-Zahraa University for Women, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Department, held a scientific workshop entitled “Linguistic Etiquette in Academic Contexts”. Furthermore, the said event was held in Al-Kawthar Hall at the Continuing Education Department. 

The workshop was delivered by Asst. Lect. Rasha Ali Abd Al-Abbas, and was attended by the Head of the Department, members of the academic staff, and female students of the Department of English Language.

The workshop addressed the concept of etiquette and its origins, etiquette in the Holy Qur’an, the Prophet Mohammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) as a model of exemplary conduct, and the elements and principles of linguistic etiquette. Along with the distinction between rules of conduct, public laws, etiquette, and morals, as well as common breaches of etiquette and ways to avoid them through an understanding of individual rights, responsibilities, and social considerations such as age, social status, occupation, and academic qualifications. The session also included practical examples drawn from University life.
