Al-Zahraa University Holds Workshop on the Art of Dealing with the Visually Challenged to Demonstrate Humanitarian Role of Imam Hussein Holy Shrine
A workshop was held at Al-Kawthar Center for Continuous Education, in cooperation with the Iraqi Al-Sarraj Association for the visually challenged on the art of dealing with the visually challenged for female volunteers as part of “Anfas Al-Zahraa” (Lady Fatima’s breath) project, The said workshop aimed to achieve real integration of people with disabilities, especially visual disabilities, via direct contact with their sighted peers without discrimination. Mr. Ali Al-Basir, an association member, delivered a lecture to volunteer female students, involved in Anfas Al-Zahraa project. He explained dealing and communicating with people with visual disabilities as an art leading to a scientific outlet for visually challenged female students so as to motivate them to double their efforts and reach the university stage. Additionally, this experience was a real opportunity for the implementation of most of the 2006 International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which was established by the United Nations, including Articles 5, 9, 25 and others.
