Sculpture is an expressive art form that adds a profound intellectual and aesthetic depth, fostering the development of female students’ artistic sensibilities. In light of this, and under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Mulla Al-Sultani, the University President, along with the supervision of Prof. Dr. Iman Sameer Bahiya, the Dean of Collage of Education, the University’s Sculpture Hall hosted its inaugural sculpture workshop. This event was led by sculptor Dr. Hussein Al-Gar’awi and participated in by first-year female students from Art Education Department.
Titled “From Clay We Derive Our Existence,” the workshop explored the significant relationship between raw materials and artistic identity, serving as a form of thought and expression. It further included hands-on training in clay modeling, an essential technique in sculpture, as well as an explanation of the mold-casting process, where temporary creations are transformed into enduring works of art.
This workshop provided a unique educational and artistic opportunity, aimed at upgrading female students’ technical skills while deepening their appreciation for the aesthetic and conceptual value of art. It is significant to observe that this initiative underscores the University’s commitment to combining practical experience with theoretical understanding, fostering a holistic learning environment that meets female students’ aspirations and nurtures their creative sensibilities.
