In line with the committee of Iraqi Universities to uphold the values of justice, equality, and to spread a culture of human rights within academic circles, Al-
Zahraa University for Women hosted an extensive meeting to coordinate human rights efforts among several academic institutions and the Independent Human Rights Commission in Karbala.
Asst. Lect. Hawra’ Adnan Shimran the Director of Human Right Division at the University organized the meeting, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ma’alli Hashem Abo Al-Ma’alli the Director of the Continuing Education Centre, and beside delegation from other Universities and dignitaries notably among them was:
Prof. Dr. Ishraq Sabah: Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs of the Law Faculty at Karbala University.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Fadhel Hasson: The Director of the Research and Study Unit in Human Rights Division at Karbala University.
Lect. Dr. Ahmed Yaqub Ibrahim: The Director of the in Human Rights Division at Al-Ameed University.
Sir Majeed Al-Masudi: The Director of Human Rights Commission in Karbala.
This meeting was held with the aim of exploring avenues for collaboration and establishing a unified annual plan for joint human rights activities between universities and the Human Rights Commission in Karbala. This would be achieved through the exchange of expertise and the implementation of awareness and training programs that contribute to spread a culture of human rights among students and developing their skills in constructive dialogue and critical thinking. The meeting also included discussions on organizing workshops, seminars, and student competitions to deepen students’ understanding of human rights and engage them in activities that enhance initiative and respect for differing opinions.
This collaboration embodies the message of the University in building educational environment that upholds the dignity of the human being, reinforces his values and rights in thought and practice, also reflecting the Leading role of the University in leading educational and human rights initiatives, and in preparing graduates who embody human rights awareness, and the ethical and national values.
