The English Language Department at the Faculty of Education, Al-Zahraa University for Women, organised a training course entitled “Anxiety Disorders and Their Impact on Our Academic and Practical Lives.” The said course aimed to raise female students’ self-awareness and equip them with strategies to manage academic anxiety effectively, thereby achieving better outcomes despite the high stress levels associated with study pressures.
The three-day course was held at Al-Kawthar Hall for female students. On the first day, Dr. Wafa’ Abbas presented the theoretical component, in which she discussed the concept of anxiety, its types, and its positive and negative effects on female students, in addition to providing practical advice for coping with it.
On the second and third days, Dr. Ali Latif Al-Sultani, a specialist in psychiatry, led the practical sessions, introducing various therapeutic methods available to help female students manage anxiety. These included cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR), relaxation techniques, neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), and other therapeutic approaches.
It is worth mentioning that the Faculty of Education at Al-Zahraa University for Women continues to organise training courses in diverse fields, all aimed at providing meaningful support to female students and contributing to their academic and intellectual development.
