Translation Unit According to the noble educational vision of the Administration of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein and in keeping with the future vision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Al-Zahraa University for Women set up the Department of Special Education within the Faculty of Education for the academic year 2023/2024. For her part, Dr. Nisreen Ali Al-Jilawi, the Head of the Department of Special Education, stated that with the back-up and encouragement of the President of Al-Zahra University Prof. Zainab Al-Mulla Al-Sultani, the Department began to receive students of the first stage in a highly positive scientific and academic atmosphere. Al-Jilawi further underscored that her Department is directed at reaching a prestigious stature among the special education departments at local and regional universities. She further noted that such a status could be attained through the creation of a highly effective educational environment that seeks to surmount the difficulties of people with special needs, support them psychologically and socially, and help them to reach their appropriate place in society through the provision of sufficient educational opportunity and the necessary educational skills. It is important to note that the Department of Special Education at Al-Zahra University for Women accepts in its branches preparatory stage female graduates (biological, applied and scientific) as well as the Teachers Institute graduates. Moreover, the Department provides specialized teachers with experience in the field of special education, beside technology and modern strategies in students teaching and training.
