Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Mullah Al-Sultani the President of Al-Zahraa University for Women, the Students Activities Departments organized an awareness workshop entitled “How Can I Protect my child” in cooperation with University Psychological Guidance Division, the Education Faculty, and the Continuing Education Centre, presented by Lect. Dr. Nisreen Ali Al-Jelawi the Director of the Guidance Division and Lect. Dr. Haifa Al-Ashqar faculty member in the Special Education Department.

The workshop aimed to highlight on the concept of child protection as one of the fundamental pillars to build a safe and health society, and emphasizing the role of parents in protecting their children from various forms of violence, abuse, or exploitation, it also shed lighted the importance of meeting the child’s psychological and social needs that contributes in developing their personality in a balanced way.

The workshop also addressed the importance of enhancing awareness of the families and educational institutions about the principles of protection and children's rights, and the need to involve educational staff in awareness and educational efforts to ensure a safe and healthy educational environment.

This workshop comes within a sequence of awareness and educational activities carried out by the University Psychological Guidance Division, in an effort to promote a culture of protection and family care, and to empower educational staff to acquire the necessary skills for conscious and humane interaction with children, in line with Al-Zahraa University directions to enhance human and educational values amid the current social transformations.
