Al-Zahraa University Organizes Scientific Workshop on Public Speaking and Audience Engagement
Education Faculty at Al-Zahraa University, Arabic Language Department, in cooperation with Continuous Education Center, organized a scientific workshop titled “The Art of Public Speaking and Audience Engagement”.. The workshop, which was presented by Lecturer Firas Ismail Majid, delved into the basic essentials of effective speaking, encompassing techniques for voice modulation and the significance of body language for effective audience impact. Additionally, it examined strategies for overcoming stage fright, ways and means of persuasion, and how a compelling speech could be delivered to captivate listeners and fulfill intended objectives. It goes without saying that mastering public speaking is crucial for academics, students, as well as thought leaders across diverse fields. Besides, it enhances clarity in communication, boosts self-confidence, and advances one's ability to effectively influence an audience. Moreover, as communication methods continue to evolve; honing public speaking skills has become imperative for achieving success in academic, professional, as well as social contexts. It bears noting that participants in the workshop engaged actively, discussing such prevalent challenges faced by speakers, as anxiety, mental distractions, as well as difficulties in organizing thoughts. In addition, practical solutions were offered, including deep breathing exercises, content preparation beforehand and rehearsal in front of a mirror or a small group before addressing a larger audience. It is important to point out that the said workshop is part and parcel of a broader series of scientific and training events organized by Al-Zahraa University, aimed at furthering the skills of students, faculty as well as administrative staff members.
